EMILY & MATT

Emily wears our Spellbound gown with fabric customisations.

HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER?
We met, rather classically millennials, on Tinder. We had friends in the same circles but would never have met otherwise.
HOW DID THE PROPOSAL GO DOWN?
Matt had been planning it for ages but he bought the ring and proposed on the same day. He told me he was going to see a mate when in fact he was going to pick up the ring. Then he called me to tell me he was coming home and we were going to meet the same friend at a winery nearby to our house. He told me the friend had been caught up on family things. So he came home, (reminded me to change out of atheleisure 🙄). We were driving along and he told me we had a flat. He pulled into this cutaway that had a spectacular view of the Yarra valley. I got out of the car to inspect the flat tyre and he proposed. I had absolutely no idea, and was completely shocked.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING?
Once I found Kim, it was a dream. I’d been to a few places beforehand and it always felt like the dress was wearing me. Kim was just amazing to work with, she asked about the styles I liked, whether I had a specific look I wanted or didnt want and she gave me three different dresses to try on, all slightly different.
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOUR GOWN WAS THE ONE?
I felt beautiful wearing it. It didn’t overwhelm me, it was elegant and it was just me.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING STYLE AND INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
Rustic (Australian native / farm). Matt was the one who found the venue and had the Australian native theme in mind. We love spending time outdoors: hiking, walking our dog, gardening, and it felt like ‘us’.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
Matt’s was seeing me come down the aisle. Mine was listening to Matt’s vows (they were so heartfelt and genuine that it made me bawl).
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING SOUNDTRACK?
We had a few. One to walk down the aisle which really was a mix of ‘classical’ versions of songs that we loved. The other was our entry songs which was just a list of songs that just were the opposite of elegant (Simon Says - Pharaohe Monch was our entry song).
WHAT ARE YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM FOR OTHER BRIDES?
1. Genuinely make sure your wedding reflects you.

2 Try not to make decisions because you think you should or to make someone happy.

3. If you can, take a few hours or even an hour before the ceremony to just breathe, reflect on how much you love them and then run down that aisle!
